Many famous pianists were finalists, including Marcus Roberts (who beat out Harry Connick, Jr); Steven Scott; Brad Meldau; Noel Friedline; Lynn Ariale (currently teaching piano at UNF) & a host of others! Also, UNF & JU have workshops hosted by visiting Jazz greats, later featured in high-powered concerts! (JB Scott is leader of UNF, Ensemble #1 & John Ricci is leader of JU ensembles & The Jazz Collective (CD available & on youtube=Tribute to Billy Strayhorn).
