Broodmen | Liminality | March 21, 2025

Serbian trio Broodmen—led by the longtime collaborators guitarist Dragan Alimpijević Pik and drummer Zoltán Simon—proudly announce the release of their sophomore album.

Rooted in their shared upbringing in Novi Sad, Serbia, Broodmen’s sound draws from a rich tapestry of influences, blending soulful and melancholic accordion melodies, the openness of modern jazz and the energy of rock’n’roll.

Liminality is set to release on March 21st, 2025.

Since their formation, Broodmen have striven to be a vessel for raw emotion and introspection, exploring the human experience through richly textured musical narratives. Their 2017 debut, Secondary Emotions, marked the beginning of a unique journey, and despite being separated by geography—Zoltán now resides in Alkmaar, the Netherlands—the band continues to write and record music together, transcending physical distance with creativity and passion.

In the summer of 2021, Pik and Zoltán reunited for a transformative live recording session at Studio Road in Serbia. Among the five tracks captured was a piece featuring renowned accordionist Lazar Novkov, whose artistry brought an unexpected and profound new dimension to Broodmen’s sound. This serendipitous meeting led to Novkov becoming a central part of the creative process, contributing to the compositions that would eventually become Liminality.

Recorded live in a single, unbroken session, the album captures the fleeting beauty of chance and intuition, immersing listeners in a world where rationality gives way to emotion. Broodmen describe the album as a journey into uncharted territory, an uninhibited exploration of their collective voice.

“This is a road into the unknown,” they explain, “a road on which we explore emotions hiding under the rational surface. It’s an attempt to leave behind knowledge and experience and step into a new, unexplored area.”

“Liminality” represents a bold step forward for Broodmen, embodying their commitment to honesty, freedom, and emotional truth. As the trio puts it: “This is us, Broodmen, and if you ask us, this is as honest as it gets.
