His name is Harry Styles. If you could put me in touch with him, I would appreciate it. I live in Boynton Beach, but I will travel to Miami for lessons.

Comment on Nina Simone Songs – Her Life In 11 Legendary Performances by Ann Stockdale https://jazzfuel.com/nina-simone-songs/#comment-28693 Fri, 20 Jun 2025 15:15:17 +0000 http://jazzfuel.com/?p=62224#comment-28693 When I was 14, My father took me to hear Nina at the Village Vanguard. Her vibration alone knocked me sideways even before she opened her mouth. Her regal composure and knowingness were awesome to my young, impressionable self. She touched a part of me I didn’t know I had. Later in life I moved to Tryon, NC where Nina was born. I moved away, but ten years ago my brother and several Simone devotees had a wonderful full life bronze statue created of her. It sits in the center of town. She still inspires me with her music.

Seminal work. Kenton a true jazz pioneer. Dave Brubeck and Stan Kenton set the table for all who came after. Wonderful to see him recognized.

The adaptation of the Brazilian rhythm to Kenton classics produces some truly magical moments.

In a time when mediocrity reigns the music landscape as never before, being reminded of Kenton’s artistry and contributions reminds us of what true musicianship is really all about.
