I was in Munich on the day of the EU referendum, which was a weird old trip. I really didn’t want to return to GB the next day. Munich was great and Unterfahrt worth the trip. I’d never been to the club before but had booked to see Henri Texier, who is a boss, but I’d have gone to see anyone just because I was there and the club clearly had a high standard. One of those places you can turn up any night and see someone good.

Thanks for posting this, Matt, and for taking the time to do the interview, Michael! Always good to get the perspective of the folks on the other side of the booking email. Very inspiring that they were able to keep the music going AND pay the musicians during COVID. I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out how he balances being a full-time doctor and running one of the most successful jazz clubs in Europe?!
